"Visited BAO three times in a single week to try out their diverse menu. The overall experience was quite consistent, making it a reliable spot in Gulshan-1." Appetizers: The Stuffed Cheese Fried Wonton was a great start—perfectly crispy on the outside with a rich cheesy filling inside. Steaks: For a place that isn't a dedicated steakhouse, the Rib-Eye and Sirloin steaks (1,330 BDT each) were surprisingly good. The meat was juicy and seasoned well with herbs and garlic. Each steak platter was served with a side of fried rice, sautéed vegetables, and a well-balanced two types of sauce. Baos: The Philly Steak Bao was a highlight; the bun was perfectly fluffy and loaded with a generous amount of melted cheese. The Chocolate Bao is also a must-try dessert—warm, soft, and oozing with rich, high-quality chocolate. Noodles: A major disappointment. The portion size was extremely small for the price, and the beef was tough and hard to chew. Service & Environment: The service was prompt and professional throughout all three visits. The staff are well-trained and the overall atmosphere is quite pleasant for a casual meal. The environment is neat and cozy, making for a very pleasant experience. However, the pricing feels a bit high for the quantity served.

We tried the Philly Steak Bao and Creamy Prawn Bao at BAO, along with Chicken Sui Mai, Stuffed Cheese Fried Wonton, Hunan Shrimp and Egg Fried Rice. Among them, the Creamy Prawn Bao and Stuffed Cheese Fried Wonton were the best. The others were average. Overall, the experience was pretty good.

Went to nai for the first time. The appetizer was SO SOOO GOOD I feel in love, the main course too was very nice. The steaks were unexpectedly very tender, juicy and melts in your mouth. The only thing that didn’t stick up to the standards were the drinks.. we took salted caramel and another boba.. they were super bland and the bobas were mushy and not too good. Other than this everything is perfect and super cozy

This was our first time coming to this place and I thoroughly enjoyed the food here—it was absolutely delicious! The dishes were bursting with flavor, and I couldn’t get enough. The service was exceptional, with everything arriving quickly and efficiently. It was clear that the food was prepared with care, as everything came out fresh and piping hot, which really elevated the experience. While the seating and table arrangements could use a little improvement for added comfort, it didn’t take away from the overall enjoyment. Everything else about this place was fantastic. I would highly recommend it and would definitely rate it a 10/10!

Bao Restaurant, Gulshan 1 I’ve been a loyal customer of Bao in Gulshan 1 for over seven years, and it’s disappointing to see how much the service and overall experience have deteriorated recently. The new, inexperienced staff seem overwhelmed and often make basic mistakes, which wasn’t the case before. The menu changes haven’t been for the better either. One of the most noticeable declines is in the food quality. Even something as simple as the lemonade now tastes bland, which is surprising considering how consistent it used to be. My biggest frustration, however, is with their handling of my usual favorite, the Chili Beef Rice. For years it always came as a set with sautéed vegetables. Lately, they’ve started charging extra for the eggs (which I’ve never even received on my plate) and separately charging for the sautéed vegetables, which were always part of the dish. On top of that, they’ve overcharged me multiple times, including recently — something I never faced in all my previous years as a customer. Experiences like these make me question whether I should continue returning to Bao. I truly hope they take this feedback seriously and bring back the quality, transparency, and service that made this place worth visiting in the first place.
