About Crown Cement

Crown Cement PLC, formerly known as M.I. Cement Factory Limited, is the parent company of Crown Cement Group and stands as a prominent cement manufacturer in Bangladesh. Established on December 31, 1994, Crown Cement PLC is a publicly traded company committed to delivering top-quality cement to the nation.

Initially, the plant had a production capacity of 600 tons per day (tpd) of Portland Cement. Over time, the demand for Crown Cement grew steadily, thanks to its unwavering commitment to quality. As a result, Crown Cement gained a solid reputation and garnered recognition both domestically and internationally. In response to this increasing demand, the project sponsors decided to gradually expand the plant on four occasions.

The second unit was introduced in 2002 with a production capacity of 800 tpd, followed by the third unit in 2008 with a capacity of 1,400 tpd. In 2011, the fourth unit was established with a capacity of 3,000 tpd, and in 2017, the fifth unit was added with a capacity of 5,200 tpd. These expansions led to a total production capacity of 11,000 tpd, equivalent to 3.3 million metric tons per year.

Crown Cement took the lead in cement exports in 2003, playing a significant role in earning valuable foreign currency for the country. It has become the largest cement exporter in Bangladesh, accounting for approximately 50% of the cement exported from the country. Crown Cement's primary export markets include the Northeastern States of India, encompassing Tripura, Meghalaya, as well as the Eastern and Western regions of Assam.

For its exceptional contribution to the country's economy through foreign currency earnings, the company has been honored with the National Export Trophy for the fiscal years 2008-09, 2009-10, and 2013-14. Crown Cement holds the distinction of being the only cement exporting company in Bangladesh to have won the National Export Trophy thrice.

In its pursuit of growth, Crown Cement has embarked on backward and forward integration efforts, giving rise to new opportunities. As part of this strategy, several associated industrial units have been established, including Crown Polymers Bagging Ltd., Crown Power Generation Ltd., Crown Mariners Ltd., Crown Transportation & Logistics Ltd., and Crown Cement Concrete & Building Products Ltd. These ventures have expanded the company's growth platform, adding new dimensions to its operations.
