The University of Asia Pacific (UAP), a private university established by the University of Asia Pacific Foundation (UAPF), was founded in 1996 under the Private University Act 1992 with the goal of expanding higher education opportunities in Bangladesh. Its curriculum is approved by the University Grants Commission (UGC) of the Government of Bangladesh. Initially, UAP offered four-year bachelor's degree programs in Computer Science and Engineering and Business Administration. Today, it provides undergraduate programs in nine disciplines and graduate programs in eight disciplines.
UAP is sponsored by the UAPF, a non-profit, non-commercial foundation based in Dhaka, Bangladesh. The foundation's primary aim is to promote human and social development by enhancing educational opportunities and creating innovative educational programs that meet the needs of a developing society. It also focuses on developing the skills, knowledge, and awareness of young people through proper institutional training. The foundation was established by a group of distinguished educationists, industrialists, and administrators who share a common vision and social commitment.
