Bata Shoe Company was founded in 1894 by Tomas Bata in the city of Zlin, in what was then Czechoslovakia. With eight generations of shoemaking heritage, Bata quickly grew by introducing modern manufacturing, automation, and long-distance retailing.
Today, we are proud to be the world’s largest manufacturer and retailer of footwear, operating in over 70 countries. Every day, we serve over one million customers, with a workforce of more than 30,000 employees, over 5,000 retail stores, and 27 production facilities across 20 countries.
Bata began its journey in Bangladesh in 1962. We currently operate two manufacturing plants in Tongi and Dhamrai, producing around 160,000 pairs of shoes daily. Our annual sales stand at approximately 30 million pairs. We are proud to be both a global brand and a trusted local name in every community we serve.
