About Bombay Sweets & Co. Ltd.

The realm of the Indian sub-continent has forever held a renowned reputation for its delectable confections, known as "mishti," encompassing delicacies like ladoo, perra, barfi, and rasgula.

Enkindled by our founder's insatiable fondness for all things sweet, the inception of Bombay Sweets materialized from his yearning to craft confections of unparalleled quality. The genesis transpired within the confines of a modest cottage factory, sporting a retail facade, nestled in the heart of Nawabpur, the historic precinct of Old Dhaka, in the year 1948. Concurrently, among the opulent array of sweets (referred to as "misti"), the introduction of native ethnic tidbits labeled as "chanachur" emerged as a cornerstone offering.

The populace swiftly embraced the offerings of Bombay Sweets, both the assortment of sweets (mishti) and the alluring "chanachur," propelling the enterprise toward prosperity. This momentum heralded the establishment of fresh retail outlets in subsequent years, notably in Baitul Mukram and New Market.

Nevertheless, it was the post-1971 epoch, coinciding with Bangladesh's triumphant emergence as a sovereign nation, that bore witness to Bombay Sweets' substantive diversification in its product array.

The company embarked on the production of biscuits, dry cakes, toasts, and even ventured into the realm of beverages, conjuring delights like orange, lemon, and pineapple squash. A proliferation of cottage factories mushroomed across the expanse of Old Dhaka, dotting locales such as Captain Bazar, Bonogram, Rankin Street, and Fakirapul.

As the dawn of the new millennium unfolded, Bombay Sweets presently boasts twin manufacturing facilities, strategically stationed in Dhaka and Narayangonj. Not only does the enterprise persevere in meticulously crafting its flagship creations, but it also gracefully ushered in an array of novel brands. This commitment to quality is underscored by the company's autonomous packaging venture, christened "Tricepack Ltd," and an in-house agricultural entity, named "Bombay Agro Ltd," both ardently dedicated to sourcing impeccable agro raw materials.

Amidst this narrative, a whimsical anecdote unfolds... In pursuit of substantial financial backing for its expansion endeavors, the company embarked upon a liaison with a banking institution. During a pivotal meeting, tokens of the company's culinary artistry were disbursed among the attendees. Amid inquiries regarding project viability and potential risks, an astute query was posed by a bank executive. In response, the company's representative wittily quipped, "Sir, the product samples I distributed for this gathering have been promptly savored, leaving behind naught but empty wrappings on the table...if our products were not commendable, surely no one would have relished them to completion." A chorus of laughter ensued, culminating in the instantaneous approval of the sought-after financial support.

As Bombay Sweets' trajectory persists in its ascension, our gaze is unswervingly fixed upon the horizon, brimming with confidence and exhilaration. The voyage entails an unceasing infusion of fresh offerings and inventive creations, while concurrently embracing the mission to extend our global footprint. Regardless of your current vantage point as you peruse these words, our aspiration remains unwavering—to make our exceptional products conveniently accessible to you.
