About Eastern Plaza

In 1990, the renowned Sonargoan Road saw the establishment of Eastern Plaza, marking the inception of Dhaka City's first multi-storied, cutting-edge shopping center. Despite the emergence of numerous captivating shopping malls in Dhaka, including nearby Mutaleb Plaza and Nahar Computer Complex, Eastern Plaza has managed to retain its significance among middle-class customers. Consequently, the area continues to be referred to as the Eastern Plaza zone.

The five-story building of Eastern Plaza accommodates a total of 98 shops on each floor, each floor catering to a specific category of products. On the ground floor, customers can find a diverse range of cosmetics, crockery, and gift items. Moving up to the first floor, one is greeted with a plethora of shops dedicated to selling saris (traditional Bangladeshi women's attire) and fashionable products, including the exquisite Jamdani and Tater saris, as well as modern clothing. The second floor is renowned for its extensive collection of shirts, pants, shalwar kameez (traditional South Asian attire), baby wear, and toys. On the third floor, visitors can explore well-known jewelry and shoe shops, while the top floor serves as a haven for affordable software, DVDs, and cell phones. This floor also attracts the younger crowd, who consider it both a shopping destination and a meeting place.

Eastern Plaza welcomes visitors from 9:00 AM until 9:00 PM, operating six days a week. However, Friday is observed as the weekly holiday at Eastern Plaza, providing a well-deserved break for both customers and staff alike.
