About OOCL

In Bangladesh, OOCL provides customer services to various regions, including North America, Europe, Intra-Asia, Australia, and the Middle East.

Additionally, OOCL in Bangladesh operates feeder vessel services with three strings per week, using both their own feeder vessel and partner Xpress feeders.

Within Bangladesh, OOCL has two offices. One is located in Chittagong, the main seaport, while the other is situated in the capital city, Dhaka, which is approximately 300 kilometers north of the Chittagong Sea Port. The Country Head oversees operations from the head office in the capital city.

Import cargo services to Bangladesh are available for Chittagong, Mongla, and ICD Dhaka.

Export cargoes are loaded at various offdocks and factories in Chittagong, as well as in Dhaka factories, Dhaka ICD, Dhaka EPZ, and some other districts in Bangladesh. Mongla is also used for stuffing a portion of the exports.

For the transportation of containers from ICD Dhaka to Chittagong, they are loaded onto railway wagons. The transit time usually takes around 12 to 18 hours due to the railway line being a single track, with priority given to passenger trains.

Two daily train services are available for container transportation between Chittagong and ICD Dhaka.

There are new ICT facilities being constructed in Pangaon, situated approximately 40 kilometers southeast of the capital. Container transportation from ICT-Pangaon is expected to commence in October or November 2013, utilizing inland river routes and small container vessels with a maximum capacity of about 150 TEUs. The transit time from ICT-Pangaon to Chittagong Port will be approximately 18 hours.

The main exports of the country include Ready Made Garments (RMG), knitwear, frozen foods, leather, jute and jute products, tea, fertilizers, and more.

On the other hand, the main imports consist of raw materials (clothes) for RMG, food grains, crude oil and related products, edible oil, machinery, raw cotton, papers, newsprints, scraps, chemicals, tiles, hardware, and so on.
