Peoples Ceramic Industries Ltd. pioneered the manufacturing of porcelain tableware’s in Bangladesh in 1962. The company was established by late Mr Ansar Uddin Ahmed, a Civil Engineer with a view to improving the lives of ordinary people who could not afford to eat off a ceramic plate. European Style tableware’s were chosen for fabrication as they were popular at home & that would create an opportunity to export in due course; PCI tableware’s were welcomed in Holland & United Kingdom in 1981. In the initial years, along with basic house wares items, Tea Cups & Saucers suitable for restaurant use were also fabricated. Marketing the quantity produced posed a big problem & thereafter Late Mr Ahmed opened doors to market them in Pakistan competing against 2 factories there. It was an instant success owing to Hard Grade porcelain products of PCI. Later Institutional products were also added to cater the Hotels and Restaurants.

Not bad....first visit in this factory
Peoples Ceramic Industries Ltd. took the lead in revolutionizing the production of porcelain tableware in Bangladesh back in 1962. The visionary behind this endeavor was the late Mr. Ansar Uddin Ahmed, a skilled Civil Engineer who sought to uplift the lives of regular individuals unable to indulge in the luxury of dining from a ceramic plate. Opting for the elegance of European-style tableware, the company embarked on this journey, leveraging their popularity both domestically and with an eye toward future exportation. The culmination of these efforts was realized in 1982 when PCI tableware garnered a warm reception in Holland and the United Kingdom.
During the initial years, the company not only manufactured essential household items but also ventured into crafting Tea Cups and Saucers designed for the discerning restaurant industry. The challenge of effectively marketing the produced quantity emerged as a significant hurdle. In response, the late Mr. Ahmed ingeniously entered the Pakistani market, pitting PCI against two existing factories. This move turned out to be an immediate triumph, attributed to the exceptional quality of Hard Grade porcelain products pioneered by PCI.
Subsequently, the company expanded its repertoire to include Institutional products, thereby catering to the specialized needs of hotels and restaurants. Throughout its journey, Peoples Ceramic steadfastly embraced the ethos of adopting Appropriate Technology while sourcing top-tier raw materials from across the globe. These measures were meticulously undertaken to curtail production costs, while consistent upgrades of machinery and equipment were undertaken to retain a competitive edge.
In 2009, the company embarked on the realm of decal printing, commencing with the application of its own "Logo." By 2012, this initiative had evolved into a fully-fledged, automated decal printing facility. At every juncture, Peoples Ceramic remained steadfast in upholding the founder's vision, striving to furnish customers with products of impeccable quality, all the while forging a brighter future both for themselves and their nation.
