An NGO works for social welfare. Working environment here is really good.
The Shakti Foundation, spearheaded by the visionary Humaira Islam, Ph.D., and a cadre of dedicated social innovators, has been steadfastly devoted to enhancing the socio-economic standing of marginalized women by means of both social inclusion and financial empowerment. Back in 1992, we set out on our noble journey as a non-governmental organization, with the unwavering objective of eradicating poverty and fostering a stable social safety net for underprivileged women throughout the nation.
In its infancy, Shakti launched an innovative pilot microfinance initiative, aimed at furnishing modest loans to economically challenged women residing in the slums of Dhaka. The remarkable triumph of this program paved the way for the expansion of similar microfinance schemes into slum communities in other urban centers as well as remote rural regions across the country. This marked only the inception of our aspirations. The Shakti Foundation holds a deep-rooted belief in the potential of women to emerge as decision-makers, leaders, and catalysts for transformative change within their respective communities. Through a diverse array of programs, Shakti has extended its reach, establishing branches in 55 districts across Bangladesh and extending its support to an impressive count of 468,394 members.
For the record, the Shakti Foundation operates under the registration of the NGO Affairs Bureau of Bangladesh in accordance with the Foreign Donations Regulations Rules of 1978, and it is also registered with the Register of Joint Stock Company Ltd. as per the Society Act of 1860. Notably, Shakti Foundation has garnered certifications under the Microcredit Regulatory Authority Act of 2007, thereby enabling it to effectively administer its microcredit programs.
