Transtec Lighting is a renowned brand under Bangladesh Lamps Limited (BLL), the leading provider of world-class lighting products in Bangladesh. It is also the only lighting company in the country listed on the stock market. Originally established in 1962 as a subsidiary of PHILIPS, Holland NV, BLL began manufacturing Philips bulbs in the then East Pakistan.
In 1993, TRANSCOM, one of Bangladesh's largest and fastest-growing diversified business conglomerates, acquired full ownership of BLL. Under a licensing agreement with Philips Holland NV, the company continued producing, marketing, and selling Philips bulbs in Bangladesh.
With the vision of illuminating Bangladesh with cost-effective and energy-efficient lighting solutions, Transcom introduced its own brand, Transtec, in 2000. Manufactured at BLL’s production facility, Transtec quickly gained popularity. Over time, BLL expanded its operations by assembling energy-saving CFLs and investing in fluorescent tube light production.
