Western Engineering Pvt. Ltd. (WEL) was established in 1998 with the primary objective of making significant contributions to the development of the nation, particularly in the construction of hydraulic structures, water control structures such as regulators and embankments, bridges, roads and highways, jute-related products, and solar power initiatives. Since its inception in 1988, WEL has always been committed to pursuing sustainable practices in order to ensure economic, environmental, and social sustainability.
In order to achieve this goal, WEL has consistently prioritized mechanization and modernization of equipment and machinery. This approach allows them to maximize efficiency and minimize reliance on manual labor, ultimately benefiting both their efforts and the environment.
Over the years, WEL has successfully completed 66 diverse projects. Currently, they have 4,500 dedicated employees working tirelessly on 52 ongoing projects throughout Bangladesh. To facilitate their operations, WEL has incorporated more than 581 advanced machines and equipment, further enhancing their mechanization and modernization efforts.
The major rivers in Bangladesh, including Padma, Jamuna, Meghna, Tista, and Brahmaputra, have historically posed significant challenges and risks to the populations residing along their banks. The accumulation of alluvial soil has hindered navigation and dredging processes. In response to this ongoing issue, WEL has acquired 36 modern dredgers from leading manufacturers in the United States, the Netherlands, and China. This strategic investment has positioned WEL as the foremost dredging company in Southeast Asia, a testament to their commitment to excellence in the field.
