Friendship is an international Social Purpose organisation guided by our vision of a world where people—especially the hard-to-reach and unaddressed—have equal opportunities to live with dignity and hope. The operations of Friendship are concentrated in remotest areas of Bangladesh that are at the forefront of many of the global challenges that define our world today, including the climate crisis, lack of access to vital services, inequality and poverty. Friendship (Bangladesh) ship hospitals serve the hard-to-reach people in remotest areas (e.g., Char areas). In addition, the Friendship Hospital Shyanmagar Hospital, a state of art architecture, services the poorest of the poor in remote areas of Satkhira and it’s surroundings, the Sundarbans in particular. Give health care facilities to the poor people of hard to reach areas of the country. Give the utmost services with the limited manpower and equipments. Provide outdoor health care services with needful investigations and emergency operative care without indoor admission. Every ship is assigned for five years agreement.

Friendship NGO, founded in 2002 by Runa Khan, has pioneered the use of floating hospitals to deliver healthcare to remote, riverine communities in Bangladesh. These innovative hospital ships navigate the country's extensive river networks, bringing essential medical services directly to the doorsteps of underserved populations. 🚢 Floating Hospitals: Lifelines on the Rivers Friendship operates a fleet of floating hospitals, including: Lifebuoy Friendship Hospital (LFH): Launched in 2001, this was the organization's first floating hospital, converted from a river barge donated by French sailor Yves Marre. Emirates Friendship Hospital: Inaugurated in 2008, this hospital was sponsored by the Emirates Airline Foundation. Rongdhonu Friendship Hospital: Formerly the Greenpeace ship Rainbow Warrior II, it was repurposed and launched as a hospital ship in 2012. These ships are equipped with facilities to provide a range of medical services, including surgeries for conditions like cataracts and clubfoot, burn treatments, pediatric and gynecological care, dental and eye care, consultations, and the distribution of medicines, often free of cost or at affordable prices.

A truly incredible organization. The staff and their work never fail to impress. Their work can be admired on a global perspective and the name carries much weight even in the States. Organized, efficient, introspective, and thought provoking are just some of the things that come to mind. If given the chance, please do check out their cultural preservation work regarding boat making, it is just phenomenal and so direly needed in addition to the great work they do with their communities! Just impeccable!

A very friendly NGO works really hard for the unaddressed, hard to reach community people of Chars (island). Evryday its getting bigger and smarter. The work environment has improved significantly to ensured the safety.
