This ONG is lead by local people and works for local people, in a context of global change. The team is very involved and competent. Main thematics are adaptation to climate change, empowerment of the women in rural areas, water (drinking water and water for agriculture), etc.

Ngo in Bangladesh working with climate change issue in coastal area.
Local Environment Development and Agricultural Research Society (LEDARS) is a non-profit, non-political organization dedicated to the social, economic, and environmental development of underprivileged and marginalized communities in the southwest coastal region of Bangladesh since 1996. Originally known as Gana Unnayan Shangstha (GUS), the organization rebranded as LEDARS in 2007 in compliance with government regulations and to avoid duplication with another NGO registered under the NGO Affairs Bureau.
During the early 1990s, unplanned shrimp farming, river erosion, and recurring natural disasters forced many coastal residents to migrate to urban areas in search of a better livelihood. In response, LEDARS evolved from a local club into a development organization, committed to supporting vulnerable communities by securing their livelihoods and advocating for their rights.
LEDARS is officially registered under the Social Welfare Department and the NGO Affairs Bureau of the Government of Bangladesh.
