Modern building at Dhaka
Shanta embarked on its journey in 1988 within the ready-made garment (RMG) industry, quickly establishing itself as a leading player in RMG exports. Through the establishment of prominent enterprises like Shanta Garments Ltd, Shanta Industries Ltd, Shanta Washworks Ltd, GDS Chemicals Ltd, and Shanta Denims Ltd, the company earned a strong reputation as a valued supplier to renowned apparel brands in the USA and Europe.
Furthermore, Shanta holds significant influence as a key founding member and majority stakeholder of the STS Group. This group serves as the driving force behind world-class institutions such as Evercare Hospitals Dhaka (formerly known as Apollo Hospital) and Chattogram, International School Dhaka (ISD), Glenrich International School, Universal College Bangladesh (UCB), and the Delhi Public Schools in Dhaka. Additionally, Shanta ventured into the financial market, establishing Shanta Securities Ltd., Shanta Asset Management Ltd., and Shanta Equity Ltd. in 2015 with the objective of setting higher standards within the industry.
Since 1991, Shanta has amassed a noteworthy track record in construction, participating in various projects both independently and in collaboration with the STS Group. Notable achievements include the construction of iconic structures like the 16-story Safura Tower, a commercial landmark in Banani, the centrally air-conditioned International School Dhaka (ISD) spanning 200,000 square feet in Bashundhara, the 125,000 square feet Delhi Public School in Uttara, and state-of-the-art RMG factories such as the 150,000 square feet Shanta Industries Ltd, the 150,000 square feet Shanta Denims Ltd, and the 35,000 square feet Shanta Washworks Ltd in Dhaka EPZ. Moreover, the team contributed to the development of Apollo Hospitals Dhaka, a pioneering 550,000 square feet multi-disciplinary super-specialty hospital in the country.
In due course, Shanta made a strategic decision to transition away from the RMG sector and focus on their passion for construction. This led to the establishment of Shanta Holdings Limited (SHL) in 2005, with a dedicated mission to revolutionize the urban lifestyle by delivering modern, functional, and visually appealing living and working spaces comparable to the most successful global developers.
Guided by the belief that construction is not merely the act of erecting structures but an art form, SHL goes beyond conventional property development and incorporates the finest elements from around the world. As a result, SHL has emerged as the most esteemed and rapidly expanding real estate developer in the country.
